In September 1935, he was the first to overcome the legendary record of 300 miles per hour with his car Bluebird, reaching speeds of 301 miles per hour, an extraordinary challenge in those days. The Ref. 4048 case is known as the Mono-block or Monoblocco type by collectors, and is the First Rolex Chronograph with 3 registers made by Rolex with Anti-magnetic screwed-down case back.
