WATCH # 1 This is a very important Patek Philippe wristwatch. This watch is the very first watch from the model reference 3939 (in all metals) production, and as such bears the movement’s number on its dial: 1903001! While modern Patek Philippe watches are growing larger and larger, the reference 3939 is a nod to classical styling and sizing. At 34mm in diameter, Patek's master watchmakers had their work cut out for them, to build a minutes repetition and tourbillon caliber that would fit into this case size. However, they succeeded with aplomb, and the reference 3939 is a very important and rare wristwatch. Case is solid 18k yellow gold with a polished finish. Lugs are slightly claw (or concave) style. Sapphire front and display back crystals. Three part construction. Dial is white enamel with applied golden Breguet style numerals and hands (also called Pomme hands). Subsidiary seconds dial. Note that the dial has the movement's serial number printed on it - a distinction that Patek Philippe affords only to its tourbillon watches. Movement is the very impressive manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber RTO 27 PS. In addition to the minutes repetition and one minute tourbillon, this caliber features 18 jewels, adjusted to temperature, isochronism and five positions, free-sprung balance and stamped with the Geneva Seal. Take a look at the movement picture of this watch; it's both beautifully designed and built. Both the tourbillon and the repeater’s hammers can be seen working through the display back.
