Probably Austrian. Walnut veneer with elaborately inlaid top and edges. (See photographs.) Inlaid with silver, fruitwood, ebony, ivory, mother o' pearl, and malachite. The whimsical image is of two crossed quivers, but instead of holding arrows, one quiver holds feathers and the other holds foliage and flowers. The box is thirteen inches long, 8 1/2 inches wide, 4 inches deep. Fully lined velvet interior, with fitted interior pull out tray. With working lock and key. Diamond shaped silver escutcheon to keyhole. The item is in excellent condition, retaining all original inlay, lock, hinges, and original finish.
